Art in MIND – Art Project at Wirral MIND – Fountain Project.

From Friday 5th November – Thursday 11th November  2010 “The Fountain Art Group” at Wirral MIND held an exciting and very well attended exhibition of work. 

 This was a culmination of a lot of hard work that the group had done with Ken Henshaw (featured below). Below is a selection of the art work exhibited.

The Art group meets every Tuesday (starting back in February 2011) from 10.00am to 12.ooam.

Resident Artist

Ken Henshaw Artist

  

 

Ken is currently Resident Artist and Volunteer Art Coordinator for Wirral Mind where he instigated the Fountain Art Group who are dedicated to meeting once a week.  Ken also presents workshops for Learning and Life courses at The Fountain Project.

Born in Toxteth Liverpool Ken studied at Wirral Metropolitan College, Sunderland Univertisy and the Latvian Academy of Art, Riga, Latvia.  He also specialises in painting and drawing, Public Art – Mural Design and Sgraffito.

Ken has exhibited widley over many years in various parts of the North West and UK. He has also been involved in all manner of Community Art Projects on Merseyside and Newcastle.  He was founder and curator of ArtspeQ Gallery in Liverpool enabling established artists and students display their work, sometimes for the first time.

Phoenix is the editor of this site and was diagnosed with bipolar twenty years ago. In between 8 periods of illness and hospitalisation she trained as a garden designer and was a awarded an RHS Diploma, gained a first class degree in Cultural Studies and a Certificate in Education that enables her to lecture in Recovery in Mental Health to psychiatric nurse students and mental health professionals at universities. Phoenix leads a diverse life which she attributes to Wellness Recovery Action Planning and all aspects of Recovery. In the last 2 years she performed stand up comedy. Laughter truly is the best medicine! Now she is concentrating on being involved in improving conditions for inpatients and service receivers trustwide. And training in WRAP, Recovery Star and the new Advanced Statement and some gardening for health. Also with some great new art projects.
