Huge Boost for Advocacy in Wirral!
Advocacy in Wirral has been awarded £327,000 from the Government’s Transition Fund, helping to ensure we can continue to help people in the Wirral and develop new services in the future.
This new money from the Government will help us make the changes needed to make the most of new funding opportunities expected to result from the Government’s Big Society agenda.

Chris Shaw, Chief Executive Officer of Advocacy in Wirral (left) said:
“This is a tremendous boost to our work on behalf of local people experiencing mental distress, alcohol and substance misuse issues. It confirms that we are well-placed to develop our services in the future, and means we can look at new opportunities to respond to emerging needs.”
Minister for the Cabinet Office, Francis Maude, said:
“I’m pleased we are able to help support Advocacy in Wirral which has shown it provides vital services for the community across the Wirral and has impressed us with strong plans for developing its services in the future.
Advocacy in Wirral’s grant is the largest yet made from the Transition Fund to an organisation outside of London, and the third highest of some 200 awards that have been made since the Fund was launched.
