Singing Cafe Wirral at Hoylake, Heswall and Higher Bebington for Alzheimers. Everyone very welcome!
The Singing Café Wirral
The Singing Café Wirral is a community based project . This was the brain child of Christine Youngman, pianist, who got a few people together to help lead the singing and they were off.
Shoppers drop in for a drink and snack and a sing song. They sit at tables and chat and join in singing to the piano from song books that we have provided.
Everyone is welcome, alone or with friends. Some just sit and enjoy the music, and they hope everyone leaves feeling happy and uplifted!
I was invited to the Singing Cafe by my friend Jean Silcock (one of the organisers) and a brilliant singer herself. It was a rainy day and I had a lot on my mind. Within moments I was singing along with everyone without a care in the world. Next minute I was doing the Lambeth Walk. Oi!
You really don’t have to know anyone there as everyone makes you so welcome. And then a hot buttered tea cake and a nice cup of tea (at a very reasonable, church mice price) and suddenly the world seemed a better place! The Singing Cafe attracts lots of different people and I think it is a real real jewel in the community.
Don’t take my word for it, just go along!
